I am Gene Cuvier, poet, director and YouTuber! I write to heal and endure. I did not know my power or my value, I write to remember my existence has value and help others find their power and value. I also create video content to share my world and work to build a film studio for and by the marginalized. Representation is spoken as if it is hard to accomplish but it is not, it simply takes a conscious choice.
I am starting a movement to fund a film studio and change how marginalized groups represent themselves in the media. Instead of hoping to have the funding or hoping someone writes the story, together we will fund projects and write and direct our own stories. In turn, building opportunity for many marginalized actors and writers struggling to find work in this industry. I am working on the book that I am a bit terrified to publish. I realized it is what I have always wanted to read and maybe it could help others who have lived or are living a very similar life. Without the words I wrote, I would not have walked towards this dream of creating a film studio and writing and directing my own web series.
