We want to bring key people together in a room to begin to address the problem of Sexual Harassment in Medicine. So far, we have 90 senior leaders. Please help me bring young colleagues to this summit in Canberra in October. 33% of women doctors experience harassment in their workplace. Survivors have to seek help in the industry that caused them harm, and if they report, they risk losing years of training. If any industry can address this problem, it's medicine. Medicine needs to heal itself.
Louise is a family doctor with an interest in mental health, medical education and doctor's health. In 2014, she cared for an intern who had been raped by the doctor who supervised her. Since then, she has led a research project with Kirsty Douglas and Chris Phillips to better understand the lived experience of sexual abuse in the medical profession. Women doctors deserve to learn safely. Let's change the culture, and make it safe.
