On June 18, our three young cats (Duncan, Gurney, and Molly) formed a daring exploration team with two cats (Reed and Quill) belonging to friends, and somehow managed to climb into a tall storage room shelf. They opened a bottle of Rimadyl, a prescription NSAID intended for dogs but very toxic to cats. Fortunately, a friend discovered this adventure in progress, and somehow managed to catch and bundle all five cats and rush them to a vet for emergency treatment. After days of close observation and bloodwork, most of the little miscreants emerged with only mild symptoms. One may have lingering liver issues, but testing is ongoing. We are utterly delighted that our fuzzy idiots didn't harm themselves more seriously in their improbable adventure, but the intensive care, tests, and treatments required to ensure this outcome were not cheap. So if you're willing to pitch in, we're not averse to soliciting a little help to take the sting out of the unexpected expense, which is shared by us with Quill and Reed's family. Any donations here will be shared accordingly. Molly, Duncan, and Gurney may be found on Twitter at the @kjittens feed, where Reed and Quill are occasional guest stars.
