Canada born but UK raised singer-songwriter Toby Uffindell-Phillips cut his teeth in the ‘00s with acoustic electronica group Sound Sanctuary and then as frontman of eclectic indie pop band Burning Shapes in the early 2010’s. The Kent-based musician subsequently began writing songs in his home studio that would form the backbone of a new solo project - Summit of the Big Low. Toby now writes and records music from his home studio in Sevenoaks putting records out on his own Friendly Tribe label .
Hi I'm Toby and I release chilled indie-folk music under the name Summit of the Big Low - think Elliott Smith meets Zero 7, Bon Iver mixed with Fleet Foxes or Nick Drake vs The Beta Band. I've set up a shop with bits and pieces from my previous record like CDs/Vinly and will be releasing a series of limited edition signed posters featuring artwork from the forthcoming album (illustrated by my friend Lucy Pook).
